Situation
Amber Downs Feedlot is located approximately 12 km southwest
of the township of Wandoan, on the Northern Downs, in Queensland, Australia.
History
Amber Downs Feedlot started operations in 1996 as a small
private feedlot owned and operated by Helen and Barry Rich to compliment
their cattle breeding properties. Initially starting with just three pens
and a capacity of about 300 SCU. It has since grown to over 15 pens with
a capcity of 2000 SCU.
Awards
In 2001, Amber Downs Feedlot won the Supreme Champion Export
Feedlot and Breeder awards, and was runner-up in the Domestic Feedlot
award.
In 2003 at the Elanco National Feedlot Awards, Amber Downs
Feedlot won the Animal Welfare award for feedlots under 3000 head.
Accreditation
Amber Downs Feedlot is NFAS and MSA accredited whilst the
backgrounding and breeding operations are Cattlecare and MSA accredited.
